Todo traditional village tour from Labuan Bajo offers a rich cultural and historical experience in the heart of Flores Island. This village was the ancient administrative centre of the Manggarai Kingdom and is known for its unique traditional architecture, known as niang.
From Labuan Bajo to Todo village will take around 3-4 hours. On this tour, we will visit Lingko ( Spider ricefield ). Lingko rice fields are a unique traditional land division system in Manggarai Regency, Flores Island, which form a pattern resembling a giant spider web when viewed from above.
A tour of Todo Traditional Village involves exploring the historical center of the Manggarai Kingdom, learning about its unique conical Mbaru Niang houses, and engaging with the local culture

What to Expect on a Traditional Village Tour of Todo.
- Historical Artifacts: The tour will typically include viewing ancient Dutch cannons, the Watu Todo ritual stones, and the central Compang (a circular stone arrangement used for rituals).
- Mandatory Local Guide & Attire: Visitors are generally required to hire a local guide and wear a traditional ikat sarong and sash ( included in the entrance fee) out of respect for the ancestors and local customs.
- Traditional Houses (Mbaru Niang): The main attraction is the uniquely shaped, cone-like traditional houses. You can take pictures, and with permission, may be able to enter the main ceremonial house (Niang Todo).
- Panoramic Views: The primary expectation is the breathtaking view of the circular, spider-web-like rice fields from a nearby hill viewpoint. This unique layout is a result of the traditional Lingko land distribution system.
